Unveiling the Roots: The 100ft Tree That Sparked Downtown Delray's Renaissance
Ever wondered about the origins of our iconic 100ft Christmas Tree? In 1993, the Delray Beach Downtown Development Authority (DDA) ingeniously kickstarted economic development in our downtown by purchasing a 50-footer. As a symbol of growth, the DDA added another 50 feet in 1995 to celebrate the city's Centennial—100 feet for 100 years!
Fast forward to today, and a new 100ft tree proudly stands, symbolizing not just the holiday spirit but the revitalization of Downtown Delray. What began as an economic catalyst during challenging times has transformed our village by the sea into a year-round destination. There's so much history and love embedded in the branches of our beloved tree!
